Privacy Policy
Effective
This Privacy Policy explains how Boatload LLC ("Boatload," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information through the Boatload web and mobile applications and related services (the "Service"). Boatload is powered by CloudWalk Solutions.
1. Our two roles
- For our account holders and website visitors, we decide how their information is used, as described in this policy.
- For the information our business customers put into the Service about their own customers (for example boat owners and their boats, addresses, and jobs), we act as a service provider to that business. We process it only on the business's behalf and instructions. The business's own privacy policy applies to that information. If you are a boat owner and want to access, correct, or delete your information, please contact the marina or transport company you work with; we will help them respond.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash), role, and profile photo.
- Business information: business name, address, phone, logo, and brand color.
- Records you create: customers, boats (make, model, year, color, hull ID), addresses, lakes and launch ramps, jobs and schedules, trucks and license plates, inspection checklists, photos and videos, and notes.
- Spreadsheet imports of the records above.
- Messages and support requests you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Log data: IP address, pages and features used, and request times.
- Browser storage: we store your sign-in token and app preferences (such as theme and last page) in your browser's local storage. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies.
- Session replay: we use LogRocket to record how the web and mobile apps are used (clicks, page views, and errors) so we can fix problems. We mask what you type into form fields and do not record the contents of requests to our servers.
Information from others
- Your business administrator may create your account and give you access.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Payment information is collected by Stripe. We receive only a customer reference, not your full card number.
- Address and map information comes from Google Maps.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: accounts and sign-in, scheduling and managing jobs, maps and routing, sending notifications, and processing payments.
- To support and secure the Service: troubleshooting, preventing fraud and abuse, and keeping accounts safe.
- To improve the Service, including using de-identified and aggregated information.
- To communicate with you about your account, billing, and changes to the Service.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
4. Text messages
We send text messages only to account holders, for sign-in codes and account notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help, or contact support@boatload.us.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
5. Email
We send account emails (such as sign-in codes, invitations, and job updates) to account holders. On behalf of our business customers, we also send job emails to their customers, such as notice that a boat is on the way or a job is complete. These are operational messages, not marketing.
6. AI features
Some features use artificial intelligence, for example to clean up imported spreadsheets, identify boats, review job results, or help set up an account. To produce a result, the relevant information may be sent to:
- AI models run by Boatload on our own infrastructure;
- Google (Gemini) or Anthropic (Claude), when those models are in use; and
- Tavily or Exa web search, which receive search queries such as a boat's description, not contact details.
We do not use customer data to train AI models, and we do not permit our AI providers to use it for that purpose where their terms give us that choice. We keep records of AI requests and results to operate, troubleshoot, and improve these features.
7. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run the Service, with:
- Service providers that process it for us:
- Google Cloud: hosting, file storage, backups, and Google Maps (addresses and locations)
- CloudWalk Solutions: hosting infrastructure and operations
- Stripe: payments
- Twilio: text messages
- SendGrid: email
- LogRocket: session replay and error monitoring
- The AI and web search providers listed in Section 6
- Your business: other Authorized Users of your business account can see records in that account, according to their roles.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Boatload, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, subject to this policy.
The Service uses Google Maps. Google's use of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track you across other websites and do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how the Service works.
9. Data retention and deletion
We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. To delete your account or personal information, contact support@boatload.us. When a business account ends, its data is handled as described in our Terms of Service. Deleted information may remain in routine backups until they expire.
10. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections to the Service, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, and time-limited links to uploaded files. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and rights
You can review and update most account information in the app. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting support@boatload.us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law; we will respond to requests as those laws require. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Boat owners should send requests to the business they work with (see Section 1).
12. Children
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Where we operate
Boatload is operated in the United States and is intended for use in the United States. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email or in the app.
